The Penguins came back from a loss in it’s first pre-season game against the Tampa Bay Lightning and managed to win 3-2 by way of a power play goal by Tyler Kennedy.
Kris Letang and Max Talbot also recorded goals in what was the first action of the pre-season for both players.
The physicality from Saturday’s game continued Monday night. 10 fighting majors were dealt out, as well as three game misconducts. Eric Godard continued to back up his teammates, just as he did in game one for Sergei Gonchar, with his second fight in as many games.
The power play continued to be effective, even without Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Sergei Gonchar, Miroslav Satan, and Jordan Staal, which was the starting power play line Saturday night. So far, the Pens are 4/15 on the power play for the pre-season.
Also, kudos to John Curry, who stopped all 15 shots he faced and got the win.
I obviously was not at the game, so I can’t give as detailed of analysis as I did a day or so ago. However, once the season starts and games are on TV, things will get better.
Until then, if you have any other input/observations, please post the in the comment section!
