The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Sunday night that Head Coach Michel Therrien has been relieved of his duties, and will be replaced by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Head Coach Dan Bylsma on an interim basis.

Assistant coach Andre Savard was also reassigned within the organization, but assistant Mike Yeo and goaltender coach Gilles Meloche will remain on the coaching staff.  Penguins’ director of player development Tom Fitzgerald will join the two as an assistant coach.

Bylsma had lead the Baby Penguins to a 35-16-1-2 record on the season thus far, standing in second place in the Eastern Conference.

New Head Coach Bylsma will make his debut Monday afternoon at 2pm when the Pens take on the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum.

More to come….
